Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDOUGLAS DORSEY February 3, 1921 - November 13, 2006 Peacefully, on Monday, November 13, 2006, Doug Dorsey, beloved and loving husband, father, brother, and grandfather, passed on to a better place. Doug leaves behind his dear wife Florence; son Terry (Paula), grandsons, Brett and Reid; daughter Maxine; sister Eleonor, and numerous nieces and nephews. Doug was born in Liverpool, England and came to Canada as a young boy. He settled in Winnipeg's West End, but spent most of his life in St. James. He served in the Armed Forces, Air Force, during the Second World War and returned to marry the love of his life, Florence, in May of 1946. Doug was a successful salesman, working for Rubbermaid for more than 40 years. He served as president of the Manitoba Gyro Club, and president of the Manitoba Developmental Centre in Portage la Prairie. Doug was a tireless volunteer, receiving the Queen's Jubilee Medal for Community Service and the Governor General's Award for Outstanding Community Service. In his retirement years, he continued his committment to volunteering, dedicating his efforts to Winnserv Inc., an organization close to his heart. A memorial service for Doug will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 18 at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., Winnipeg. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff of the 3rd floor West, Grace Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity of your choice, or to Winnserv Inc.
